]]> Construction at our newest mixed-use office building in Mount Pleasant is in full swing! The crane is now onsite, reaching a new milestone for HOUSS.

The team started bright and early on Friday, Nov 22 with the delivery and installation of the 285ft tall crane. All hands were on deck as the supporting foundation was laid and the mast was bolted into position. The cab and jib were mounted in place and each section of the frame was lifted up by the mobile crane and slid into place. The crane is now fully in position and looms large over the future HOUSS development in Mount Pleasant.

]]> The HOUSS site on West 6th is alive with construction activity!

The excavating and shoring process is now fully underway. These first steps are crucial to ensuring a safe and successful build. Site excavation is the digging and removal of earth, rock and other material from the site with tools and large machinery. Once the site has been excavated, the shoring process can begin. In this step, the team drills into the earth and inserts giant metal rods that help to support the perimeter walls of the site. The Ventana and Conwest teams are about halfway through the excavation process and are about to commence shoring the south side of the site.

Once the shoring is complete the team will begin laying the foundation and building the site service infrastructure – stay tuned for more updates as construction on HOUSS progresses.

It’s exciting to see this construction process fully underway. We are on track to welcome business owners into their new space in Q2 2021.

]]> On Saturday, August 10, Conwest joined the Mount Pleasant community in celebrating the Vancouver Mural Festival. This dynamic neighbourhood is the location of our newest mixed-use building, HOUSS, now under construction.

The Vancouver Mural Festival is a yearly weeklong event highlighting local artists and the culture and vibrancy of Mount Pleasant. Each year, Saturday’s Street Party is the most popular day of the festival with streets blocked off to showcase transformed alleyways, live art creations, markets, street dance battles, live music and the brand new Family Art Zone.

We were excited to sponsor the new Family Art Zone, and were onsite to present ‘Cardboard City’ where kids and adults had a chance to give life to their own version of the ‘city’ surrounding them. Local Vancouver artists were also on hand to paint young faces and help bring the impressive creation to life.

The members of our team had a great day handing out beach balls and refreshments to the crowd and talking to the community about HOUSS.

HOUSS, Mount Pleasant’s newest mixed-use development is under construction and anticipated to complete in Q2 2021. The next step is to relocate the historic Coulter House. The team will be moving the Coulter House to a temporary home until we are ready to incorporate the unique heritage house back into the building. After it is safely off-site, we will demolish the current structure, and soon after that, begin preparing the empty site for excavation. It won’t take long for this highly anticipated building to start taking shape. Stay tuned for the next construction updates on this exciting project!
